  1. Really enjoyed our first working party last night where we examined our journey so far, our successes, and of course where we need to develop as a school community to ensure we integrate restorative practice into all our work and interactions.
Next meeting is scheduled for the 4th June at 3:20 in the stateroom. All welcome.

  2. Key staff involved in developing Restorative Practices are:
Simon Truman, Jen Griffin, Tricia Knott, Tim Imesson, Amy Whyte, Myf Maywald, Kylie Trenorden, Ben Hardy, Sally Shearing, John Jamieson, Matt Fry, Paulene Angus, Ely Haussen, Karen Michelback, Elaine Jones and Casey Swansson.

  3. In Scotland they recently piloted RP in schools with the following underlying principles:
    • The importance of fostering social relationships in a school community of mutual engagement
    • Responsibility and accountability for one’s own actions and their impact on others
    • Respect for other people, their views and feelings
    • Empathy with the feelings of others affected by one’s own actions
    • Fairness
    • Commitment to equitable process
    • Active involvement of everyone in school with decisions about their own lives
    • Issues of conflict and difficulty returned to participants, rather than behaviour pathologised
    • A willingness to create opportunities for reflective change in pupils and staff (Kane et al. 2007).
Wondering how that fits with how we see RP at SSC.

  4. Thinking it might be a little problematic to get the Restorative Practices philosophy out there in the community
